 Shaping of the bowls
Round-bottom bowls were probably moulded into a semi-spherical shape. In the next step, potters probably worked on the part that formed their curved rim.
Handles were often attached to the pots by tenons during the shaping process.
Surface treatment
In contrast to coarser cookware and containers, finer serving bowls, jugs and mugs were carefully smoothed with the aforementioned tools. They were held in the hand several times during the drying process, so that the potters could perform the appropriate finishing operations.
