Plastic ornaments – channelled decorations – burnished surfaces
Usually, the ornamental knobs were first placed on the surface of the pots, and then, in the leather-hard state of the clay, channelled motifs were smoothed in. Thereafter, thinner lines were incised or smoothed, and finally, the surface of the vessels were burnished with pebbles to give them a shiny appearance.
The firing was carried out in a pit or kiln, but at present, we have no archaeological evidence for either. In the project, we chose a clay furnace due to the lower waste rate that can be ensured by its use.
